URGENT: Take Action to free Stop the Wall activist Hassan Karajah
Hassan Yasser Karajah, Youth Coordinator of War on Want’s partner organisation in Palestine, Stop the Wall, was arrested on Wednesday 23 January. Israeli occupation forces violently broke into Hassan’s home in the West Bank village of Safa, west of Ramallah.
Hassan suffers from an infection and sprained back as a result of a previous accident for which he requires treatment and daily medical supervision. His lawyer has reported that on night of his arrest Hassan was refused his medication. We are gravely concerned to also hear reports of Hassan being subject to physical violence during arrest and interrogation procedures.
Hassan represents a new generation of creative and dedicated Palestinian youth activists who are determined to expose Israel’s policies of illegal settlement, land theft and confiscation.
War on Want is campaigning for Hassan’s urgent release. We believe that it is unacceptable for Israel to be targeting human rights defenders with such intimidation.
