The Israeli system of fences and checkpoints which so greatly restrict movement in Palestine have left farmers unable to reach either the farmland or markets at which to sell their goods. War on Want continues to campaign in the UK and support grass roots organisations in Palestine to change this situation.

However, these aren't the only concerns olive farmers in Palestine face. Our partner organisation Zaytoun supports Palestinian olive farmers by helping them form cooperatives and find international markets for their goods. They have recently undertaken the task of combating the olive fruit flies that have been plaguing crops in the West Bank. By providing a range of traps and monitoring the results, Zaytoun has been able to help farmers tackle this serious threat to their livelihoods.
