Stand With Migrant Workers on 20 February 2017 - #1DayWithoutUs

News

On Monday 20 February, groups across the UK are coming together to take part in One Day Without Us: a day of action to

  • Stand up for the rights of migrants
  • Celebrate the crucial contribution of migrants to our communities
  • Take a stand against the politics of hate and division

War on Want has always stood in solidarity with workers, around the world. Today, many migrant workers across the UK face racism, abuse and exploitation fuelled by years of damaging immigration policies.

The aftermath of the EU referendum, and Trump’s politics of hate, are causing fear and anxiety, especially for migrant communities so we are coming together to stand for justice.

Ways to get involved:

1) Join us in London at FastFoodRights Migrants Welcome demonstration in the morning, or at the Stop Trump Demonstration in the evening

2) Find events happening near you: www.1daywithoutus.org

3) Join the big moment:  At 1pm 20 February 2017,  everyone is invited to  show their solidarity online. You can join in by

  • Taking a picture individually or with colleagues, friends or family holding a message of support for migrants living, working and studying in the UK
  • You can download a Stand With Migrant Workers sign here:
  • Link your arms as a symbolic gesture of solidarity
  • Post your pictures on social media using the hashtag #1DayWithoutUs and #StandWithMigrantWorkers

4)Share your message of solidarity online:

Thank you for taking action!

This repressive treatment of Omar Barghouti and other Palestinian human rights defenders shows that Israel is cementing its system of violence and discrimination towards Palestinians. The repression of Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) activists only proves why it is so necessary in the first place, and will only make the movement grow more.
