Join us for an evening to commemorate the anniversary of the Rana Plaza garment factory collapse in Bangladesh, premiering the new film: Workers Voices and a photo exhibition: Women are the Resistance.
War on Want, TRAID, Brick Lane Circle and Rainbow Collective bring you an evening to learn more about the women who makes our clothes in and around Dhaka and how they are challenging the system of exploitation that is the international fashion industry.
Join us for a screening of the new film, Worker Voices that explores the lives, work, and organizing efforts of Bangladesh’s garment workers.
Through interviews carried out from 2014 to 2016, the film chronicles the barriers faced by the mostly female workers at home, at work, and in life. The film is produced by Bangladeshi lawyer, Chaumtoli Huq and directed by Mohammed Romel.
War on Want will also be showcasing stunning images that will form part of our photo series, Women are the Resistance. This exhibition was created to profile just a handful of Bangladeshi women that we know - the extraordinary leaders of the fight for justice both inside and outside of factories in Bangladesh.
