Time for constructive engagement: Statement on UN Binding Treaty

Today, 14 October 2019, negotiations for a UN BindingTreaty on Business and Human Rights are underway at  the UN in Geneva. War on Want together with 58 other organisations are calling on the Uk govenment and other European representatives to help deliver a treaty that ensures multinationals are held to account for human rights violations, and victims have access to justice.

Israeli military raids Palestinian human rights group stealing crucial equipment

Addameer staff members have been regularly targeted with defamation and smear campaigns, travel bans, restrictions on lawyers’ access to clients, and arbitrary arrest. The raid of Addameer’s office, and confiscation of key equipment, is an escalation of this harassment. Israeli authorities are clearly targeting Addameer because of its work of exposing violations against Palestinian political prisoners.

Charity Commission response to complaint by UK Lawyers for Israel and US-based The Lawfare Project

We are pleased to report that the Charity Commission’s assessment of the allegations made against War on Want by UK Lawyers for Israel and The Lawfare Project has concluded. The Charity Commission ‘have not identified any issues that we need to take forward’.

In September 2018 a complaint against War on Want was submitted to the Charity Commission by UK Lawyers for Israel and The Lawfare Project. War on Want submitted a full response to the Charity Commission, refuting these allegations.
