Senior Communications and Engagement Officer (Full-time, permanent)

We are looking for a Senior Communications and Engagement Officer to support the delivery of War on Want’s communications and engagement strategy, and wider organisational strategy, as we look to grow our supporter and membership base and reach new audiences. 

Reporting to the Head of Communications and Engagement, the successful candidate will manage the day-to-day running of War on Want’s social media presence and strategy, will support the development and maintenance of our organisational website, and will lead work across supporter emails and calls to action – to mobilise new and existing audiences and maximise the reach and impact of our campaigns and programmes work.

The successful candidate will work proactively to offer expert advice to colleagues in the Campaigns, Policy and Programmes team to identify and advise on communications and engagement approaches for their work areas, suggest creative treatments, and tailor complex information into on-brand, engaging and accessible public-facing content – to bring our human rights work to life and encourage our audiences to take action.

The role will involve some work with external agencies, freelancers and designers, alongside liaising with journalists to publicise our work, and providing communications support for online and in-person events.
