Israel is committing genocide of the Palestinian people.

International Court of Justice (ICJ), has stated that Israel’s 57-year occupation of the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt) is illegal. Countries must help end Israel’s occupation – including by ending arms transfers and trade deals – but stop businesses from operating in, or importing goods from, Israel's illegal settlements.

Israel is torturing and ill-treating Palestinian detainees – including children. Since October 2023, at least 54 Palestinians have died as a result of Israeli torture. Israel has dramatically escalated its use of torture since October 2023, but Palestinian detainees have been systematically tortured by Israel, with impunity, for decades.

UK banking giant Barclays provides billions of pounds worth of investment and loans to arms companies selling weapons and military technology to Israel. Barclays is actively arming, supporting and profiting from Israel’s apartheid regime and its genocidal violence against the Palestinian people.

The right to food is an internationally recognised human right. But for Palestinians, this right is under attack by Israel’s apartheid and occupation regime.

We are deeply concerned by the escalation of violence in the occupied Palestinian territory of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, and Israel. This has resulted in an unacceptable loss of life — and we urge all parties, including the international community to work to stop the bloodshed.
