Militarism and repression

We stand with all human rights defenders.

The global arms trade supports repressive regimes, fuels wars and armed violence, and reinforces global oppression and inequality. Mining corporations extract minerals and metals across the Global South – and use armed forces to repress opposition. We pressure the UK government to stop UK arms exports to human rights abusing regimes, and hold UK-based mining corporations to account for the violence they inflict on communities.

Explainers

The UK is backing Morocco’s plan to cement its control of Western Sahara.
Israel is committing genocide of the Palestinian people.
UK banking giant Barclays provides billions of pounds worth of investment and loans to arms companies selling weapons and military technology to Israel. Barclays is actively arming, supporting and profiting from Israel’s apartheid regime and its genocidal violence against the Palestinian people.

Reports

Una transición que deje atrás los combustibles fósiles debe ser justa, equitativa y ecológica: esto es central en nuestra visión de un Nuevo Pacto Verde Internacionalista.

A transition away from fossil fuels must be just, equitable and ecological — this is central to our vision for a Global Green New Deal.

The UK must restrict trade and investment with Israel to comply with its legal obligations to deter genocidal acts and to ensure the UK is not aiding Israel’s unlawful occupation of Palestinian territory.

Arms and military components made in UK factories are being exported to Israel, then used in attacks by Israel against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip. Such arms transfers most likely breach the UK government’s obligations under international law.
